ABOUT US

Charlotte’s in the Pantiles was founded in September 2020.

“One of the leading factors behind the founding of Charlotte’s was our passion to provide something truly unique to the Pantiles; we grasped the opportunity to open a city-style cocktail bar, providing contemporary ideas, eye-catching aesthetics and a luxurious experience to our guests.”

We are passionate about providing a vibrant, welcoming and sophisticated spirit, and our vision was to become the first of our kind in this area, providing unique experiences.

Find us situated underneath the historic Pantiles Clock, dating back to the early 1900s, on the most famous street in Tunbridge Wells.

The discovery of the Chalybeate Spring in the early 17th century led to the popularity of The Pantiles and Tunbridge Wells as a spa town, amongst both gentry and royalty of Georgian England.

As Tunbridge Wells grew in popularity, so too did the area surrounding the Spring, eventually leading to the building of the colonnaded walkway in the 18th century, “The Walks”, now known as The Pantiles.

Our logo pays homage to the branding of a vibrant business, called ‘Cadena Café’, which was set in our building in 1902 and formed part of a larger chain of coffee houses in the south of England. The original entwined C’s logo of Cadena Café from the 1900s can be found on The Pantiles Clock, on the exterior of the building and in an original mosaic on the London Road entry to Charlotte’s.

We are incredibly proud to be surrounded by such a depth of history and culture and strive to keep the tradition of The Pantiles alive, whilst adding our own contemporary, city-style opulence; merging the historic traditions of The Pantiles with our modern and sophisticated spirit.
